Check in and check out! This is what we usually do before we begin our
day and after we finish our activities.
After we did “check-in”, we’re starting
to play “moving chair” with some descriptions. Ah, we also had a yoga session
before. Dylan leads us to do this yoga :) Happy
morning.
We have some movements with explanation
for instance: people from Asia, or people from Europe, if we are included with
the criteria, we have to move.
Until this happened. How funny the game is. J

Next questions are getting difficult.
For instance: “Do the woman have a right to do abortion, or do you agree with
democracy or dictator, is it democracy is the best system for us, how about the
freedom of speech, can it be limited?, can media be objective” and so on.
Then, we had lunch. In the middle of
lunch, some of our friends were dancing. How cool they are. :) We continue our discussion. Still related
to corruption and governance, we have to make an example of situation, the cause
of corruption, who did it, what’s the effects, what’s the consequences and
implications for the community.
We (my group: Julia, Elchin, Daniel,
Ali) choose one situation in education: examinations in universities, students
give bribes to tutors to pass the exams. The causes are low salaries and greed.
It has some effects, one of them is graduation of unqualified students. Some
consequences: economy suffers, a lot of unqualified degree holders, education
system looses trust and degradation of quality of education.
Then, we’ll have dinner. For me, the dinner time in Norway is very
fast. Usually, I have dinner at 7 or 8 pm, but in Norway we have dinner at 4 or
5 pm. Very early. But I like it :) I love eating especially ISFIT menu for dinner. So delicious :)
on the way to dinner. Snow Storm, Today we had a bad weather.
Still take photos in the middle of snow storm.
made some writings for my sister. She had a graduation today!
with Alice and Deborah, after dinner.

Plenary Session: Why Is The
World Corrupt?
Tina Soreide opened this session. She started with the corruption
issue in Norway. I know that Norway CPI in 2014 is very good, got the best 5th rank,
it means Norway is a country which has low level at corruption. It must be very
good to learn from this beautiful country, I said in my heart. Tina continued
her explanation, there were authorities, so there would always be corruption
related issues, including Norway. She made an example by mentioning Telenor
case.
Extortive corruption: the point is: the income increases, society develops
for instance bribe decreases the development.
Collusive corruption: problems in all categories of countries. –categories corruption
based on experts
“Collusive corruption is a problem everywhere. Its just harder to spot than small scale corruption”
Peter Eigen, one of the most central anti-corruption fighters in the
world will be our speaker. He co-founded Transparency
International which is considered the world's leading anti-corruption NGO, in
1993 in Berlin.
Remembering Millenium Development Goals, starts January
2015 (corruption is focus area). We own our future. We have to realize the effects of corruption:
affects women, children, everything.
We can create the world which is clean from
corruption, challenge all societies, we
have to take action seriously. All of us needs good government, because they’re
delegation of authorities who run the country life. We need government. But,
it’s impossible to depend all thing on government, we can reduce this problem, all
societies has to participate. Corruption can be defeated.
Peter Eigen agrees that "young people are the great hope" Let's prove it! Peter Eigen
is also talking about how he had to leave The World Bank because he wanted to
fight corruption. Inspiring talk from Peter Eigen. Allowing the businesses to
bribe in other countries are a huge reason of corruption.
We also have to pay attention with whistleblower. Whistleblowers
have a hard time in revealing corrupt acts. No legislation gives them
protection.
Peter Eigen also shared his experiences in Asia, America, Australia.
Thanks for the inspiring session Sir. I learn a lot from him.
